Lakes Entrance

Summer holidays are here again and the trailer was packed up with bikes and scooters and off we set to Lakes Entrance. This is our second trip to the holiday house and we had a pleasant drive down with a couple of movies and a stop for a run about. After unpacking the kids met the other children playing out the front and a week long biking and scooting friendship was born.
We spent the first day on the bikes riding into town and doing a little bit of window shopping. Keeley was the only one not on her own transport and it got it a bit much as she fell asleep on the last leg.

The weather wasn’t perfect for a couple of days with overnight rain and cloudy muggy days so we spent some time at the local pool, the boys love being independent and swimming for themselves. We also visited the "fish museum", a shell and sea life shop with a a little exhibition around the back. The kids love it and it’s a necessity in Lakes. After this a water fight broke out with two of the kids next door.

A stroll around over the bridge and and then out for tea at the pub. Great tucker and very well behaved children.
There is a bit of a tradition of op shop buying whilst on Dawson family holidays and they didn't let us down this time. Everyone got some stuff including mums "stick" books.
Mum had a order for a wedding cake so had to go home for a day on Thursday so she dropped us off at the beach for a play. We caught some tiddlers and everyone loved a splash around. The next morning we walked over to the pool in the rain , its only a short walk, for a splash around.

The last full day brought about the hot weather and another day on the beach. Classic beach day with fishing, swimming and a trip out on the pedalos. We all caught a bit of the sun with Dad getting a nice red back!!!

The Ashes

Whilst mostly a home full of Australians the author of the Blog was very excited by the Ashes this week. England won the series 3-1 and took the urn back to the UK. Teaching the kids the sprinkler has been a highlight.
We are now busy preparing for our trip to Lakes Entrance and setting up the new rooms. Xander has moved into Keeleys old room when she moved in with Amelia. Marshall is now on the top bunk and we were very proud of him letting Xander have the new bed.

Haircuts for the family

Dad had to go to work for a week today and treated himself to a haircut and shave for the occasion. Dette and the 5 then went the next day to Milly to have cuts too. Everyone had a fun day there playing with Ben , Beccy and Tom with Amelia coming home beautifully made up.

Dette got a colour and cut and looked stunning, even Otto Rot liked the new doo......

Dad got annoying news, with the promises made to him about his new position falling through. Never mind though as it should all come good in the end....

Casey RACE

The best laid plans. Well we sort of had a plan but poor communication meant that Uncle Sam rang us from the swimming pool and had been there for an hour! So, quick shoes on for the big four and unfortunately fro Keeley, a sleep.

What a great pool, we caught up with the Walmley Dawsons and straight into it. Xander and Marshall are so very good swimmers now they were off with Cammy and Pops. Amelia and Nate had their vests on so could run about with abandon. Loads of fun.
But it got better. Keeley refused to sleep and miss out on the fun so Dette came down and into the water. Xander and Marshall got to go on the big slide and Dette got to go in the "warm" pool.

Back to home for sangers and crisps and a quiet viewing of Nanny Mcphee.

NYE and the park

It was a quiet NYE with the family at home. The start to the year brought some warm but stormy weather and after a false start the Dawson Four, Keeley stayed at home with mum, got to ride their Christmas Bikes at the park. Xander and Marshall are really good now and can be let off the leash as it were.
