Excursions and Rye

It is excursion time and the boys have had some great trips with school. Xander was the first taking his mum to Chesterfield Farm. The usual feeding and patting of animals with the highlight being milking a cow.Marshall had a more exotic trip to the Zoo. The bus ride there was great fun with songs and games on the way. The Zoo as usual was fantastic. Marshall and Dad split from the pack to ease the burden on the carers and walked around our favourite animals. The Elephants and Lions were a huge hit.
We were lucky to be offered a family holiday house in Rye for the first weekend in November, the traditional cup weekend. The house is close to the beach and we had use of the beach bathing box too. Thanks Ellis family.
The weather on the Saturday was perfect and then a dramatic lightning storm gave us a spectacular light show in the evening.

The next morning the weather was a bit cloudy so a morning stroll along the beach looking for shells.

Gardening

The sad passing of Ruben has meant that the back garden is significantly less poo riddled. It does however have a bit more wee with the boys taking great joy in weeing on the bushes instead. They also enjoy teasing Amelia who finds that a bit trickier.

As a consequence of no landmines we have been labouring away trying to sort out the neglected garden. Four trips to the tip later it is looking a lot better but will need a few more weekends to get it perfect. We also need to seed some of the paths that Ruben ran around the garden and mulch the garden beds.
Unfortunatley we didnt take before photos but believe me this is 500% better, dette has RSI from cutting brambles and pulling weeds.

Apologies for the legs!

The new car arrives in a week, a Kia Grand Carnival Premium. This is going to be so much better as there is heaps of room in the back and electric sliding doors! The kids are excited as it is fitted with a big DVD player and were excited by the leather.

Goodbye Ruben

On Tuesday afternoon we discovered that Ruben the dog had passed away sleeping in the back garden. It appears he had twisted bowel, a common problem in big dogs. The kids were obviously upset and the enduring image is of Nate at the fly screen as they are carrying him out. "ooben, ooben....."

So heres to a fantastic dog and good mate for all the family.
