Rain

What were we to expect, it’s the middle of winter and we are on the south coast. It rained solidly all night and I optimistically assumed that the sun would burn the dark clouds away. No such luck. So plan B. A drive into Warrnambool and the search for indoor fun for the musketeers. At this point I have to make an admission. I cannot live without the internet. How do I find a play centre in a town 20k away, Google it. Well without the wonder of internet explorer I had no where to go and after trying to remember the directory enquiries number for ten minutes I resorted to texting someone I knew would be in front of a computer. Sad but true.

After three laps of the bool trying to find the place we ended up a typical indoor play centre, loads of stuff for the kids, overpriced food and no where to sit down. The musketeers loved it with Amelia’s independence really showing through. Marshall led her through the trickier and more daunting activities and she loved it.

Now I don’t mind paying for a meal out but $41 bucks for five sangers and a couple of bowls of chips was a bit much. No wonder we go to Maccas on days like this at home.

Not much else other than a cracking lamb roast for tea and a nice bottle of wine…

Port Fairy - Setting Off

The Association has a number of holiday houses available to members to use. To get a berth you have to enter a ballot. I drew school holidays (good) middle of winter (bad). But you cant miss an oppurtunity to get away so to beautiflul Port Fairy it is.

As I began to pack the trailer with the ever growing pile of stuff my mind wondering back to stacking the cream Austin Princess and setting off for Towyn. To top it off Chang sitting in the front foot well. It was the thought of the suitcases flying off the roof however that made me sort out more occy straps. The weather was okay in Narre but a tarp covering all was applied, Ruben dropped off at Grans, and the house locked up.
Setting off at 10ish meant Nate was soon asleep and an easy drive to Geelong for the first Maccas stop. Joy of Joys, Kung Fu Panda was in the building and this will possibly be the highlight for Xander and Marshall. A free toy providing an easy first win for mum and dad.

The rain started to drop now and the tarp slowly entangled itself. Never mind, press on, I had strategically placed all the need to stay dry stuff in the middle, no stress. Well I was at it started to chuck it down and the boys were starting to get antsy.

Popped into the police station to get the keys and into the holiday house. It wasn’t quite what we were expecting but we aren’t sure what to anyway. There are two units built attached with a common area at the back. They are actually quite nice and once sleeping arrangements were sorted we thought , “what now.” . This is when it started to chuck it down, so unplug the mediagate hard drive and chuck a movie on.

Gran and Xanders Birthday

Its been a while since the last post and I am struggling to remember most of what happened however there were a few milestones. Gran had her 70th birthday and had a party down at Cath and Hughs for all the family. It was a great affair and fun was had by all......
Here are some snaps.

On the 19th Xander had his 5th birthday and his first visit to his new school. His interview went very well and he impressed with his sentence making skills. He is having a party on Saturday so Gran came over for tea and a home made cake. Photos to come

Milestones

Nate has reached a couple of milestones the last day or so.

1. He can now crawl, not the commando shuffle he has been using for the last few weeks, but a proper all fours crawl. You can't take your eyes off him for more than a second or he's gone.

2. He is obviously realising his arms and legs are there for a purpose and is now clapping and waving , mostly at the dinner table.

3. Lastly, young Nathaniel has perfected his Darth Vadar impression. He decided to show us the other night at 3am. His chest is very heavy and he has a nasty cough to go with it. Sleep is over rated. I was reminded of Sam taking Cammy for a drive at some silly hour as I fired up the car at 5am to get some quiet and give Dette some sleep.
